Privacy notice
Last updated: add the date once she has approved this text
This notice explains how Broker Name Insurance collects and uses your personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What I collect
When you ask for a quote, I collect what you enter on the form: your name, ID or passport number, contact details and address, details of the vehicles, home, possessions or business you want insured, including drivers and security, and your insurance and claims history.
Why I collect it
- To get insurance quotes for you and advise you on them.
- To set up and look after any policy you choose, including claims.
- To meet my legal duties as a financial services provider, including FAIS and FICA record-keeping.
Who I share it with
Only with the insurers I approach for your quotes, and only what they need to price your cover. With your permission, an insurer may run a credit (ITC) check. I never sell your information or use it for anyone else's marketing.
How it's kept safe
Form submissions go straight to a private, password-protected account that only I can access. While you fill in the form, your answers are saved on your own device so you don't lose them. They are removed from your device once you send the form.
How long I keep it
If you become a client, for as long as the law requires for financial services records (at least five years after the policy ends). If you don't, I delete your details within 12 months, confirm with her.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, or ask me to delete it, where the law allows. You can also complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
